The "Individual Installation" of the EDIT Platform for Cybertaxonomy is a basic and simple to install software suite designed for taxonomic data capture and maintenance for an individual scientist. This installation scheme is typically used for personal taxonomic projects, which do not require collaborative data management activities. It consists of a local installation of a Platform-compliant data store as well as the Taxonomic Editor (TaxEditor) which is used for entering and editing data as well as carrying out data imports and exports.
The set up does not allow for multiple user access. However, an upgrade of the installation to a multi-user environment (Group Installation or Community Installation) is always possible.

Requirements
The software is installed on a local personal computer (Windows, Linux or Mac). The installation procedure is straightforward and does usually not require support from a system administrator. Please note, that the software has no built-in backup procedures.
